Movie 1: Brother Bear "Bucky not Binky"

In this scene the little bear (Koda) is annoying the big bear (Kenai). While they were acting out their line Juaquin Phoenix (who voiced Kenai) accidentally said the wrong line, but Jeremy Suarez (who voiced Koda) came up with a comeback.

Movie 2: Alice in Wonderland 'Mad Tea Party'

Before they started animating the movie, they first preform it live with the actors then have them models for the animators. In this mad tea party this interaction was improved so that the actors can create some sort of madness to their characters.

Movie 3: Aladdin 'The Genie'

This movie contains a lot of improve from Robin William each time they record many of his impressions for each line and there was a lot of recording. The animators had so much fun animating all of Robin's takes but it was also difficult and a lot money into this project.

Movie 1: Indiana Jones 'Sword VS Guns'

This scene was originally was supposed to be a full-on sword fight but Harrison Ford (who played Indiana Jones) felt ill and didn't want to put in the energy of this scene so he pulled out a prop gun to shoot at the actor.

Movie 2: The Shining "Here's Johnny!"

During the filming process the director (Stanley Kubrick) always cause his actors into a mental spiral mainly towards Shelly Duvall and Jack Nicholson help Stanley with that. This scene Jack borrows a popular late-night catchphrase to add comedy and creepiness towards this scene. This scene became so horrified Duvall's screams started to become real.

Movie 3: Pirates of the Caribbean "I got a jar of dirt!"

In the script Johnny Depp was supposed hold up the jar a taunt the character Davy Jones but Jonny Depp didn't like that so he instead sings a little ditty to taunt Davy Jones. The actor's reactions were real and made this scene funnier than it was supposed to be especially when Johnny Depp accidentally fell down.

 Theater improv

In theater people call improv a spontaneous ensemble theater. Improvisation is a centuries old art form that have been used mainly in the performing arts.

How did it Started?

This form of improv started in the mid 1950's. Spolin’s son, Paul Sills, who along with Del Close and David Shepard, started the improvisational troupe, the Compass Players. This led to the creation of the company called The Second City by 1959. Around this time, Keith Johnstone was developing improv in the UK.

 What is improv?

Improv break down the barrier between the mind and the voice. It increases the mind's ability to form ideas and present them in a calming manner.

Why is it so important?

Improv is an important skill not only to the actor but as a person who gets tongue tied or socially awkward. Not only that improv helps with your acting but in life situation in general. While improv is good for an individual it also good for groups because it helps create bonds, break the ice, and creates energy.

How is it Beneficial?

One of the benefits of using improv is gaining many types of skills. For example, they can gain quick thinking skill so they can come up something on the spot that flows with the story. They can also gain some social skills since improve lets the person out of their shells.

For my presentation I'll talk about:

  • Why people use improv?
    - Explaining why can help the students understand that sometimes actors use improvs to be       silly, unintentional, and to continue/make the story better.
  • Iconic movies that were improvised.

  • Theater improv
  • animation
    - There is a lot of animation films that didn't go according to plan.
  • And using my example of improv
